XP starts only in safe mode

  1. Click Start, Run. msconfig.
  2. Click the "BOOT.INI" tab, and uncheck the box, "/SAFEBOOT"
  3. OK

If the box is already unchecked, make sure that "/SAFEBOOT" is NOT in the Boot.ini statement.

It could have been added manually.
